Meet the Team | Jonny
Name: Jonny (he/him)
Role: Committe Member - Fundraising & Communications.
Hello, my name is Jonny and I am a volunteer for Chichester Pride.
I moved to Chichester from South West London in March 2021 with my husband, Stuart. Moving during a national lockdown had its challenges but we are lucky to have an allotment at the end of our garden and we were able to get some much-needed socially distanced contact with our new neighbours that way.
At the same time, we were also thrilled to discover that a group of people were trying to get the first major Pride event for Chichester organised and we immediately volunteered (although it took several more months of restrictions before we could meet anyone face to face!)
Through Pride, we have met some wonderful people and we are really excited about the event on 28th May and are hopeful that it will be a springboard to more visibility for the local LGBTQ+ community going forward.
I’ve worked for most of my life in theatre, running a successful theatre school for 10 years and more recently working as a theatre producer. Theatre tends to take up a lot of my spare time too and I love going to see musicals and plays, I also tread the boards as an amateur performer.
Joining CAOS Musical Productions in Chichester has been another great way for me to make some new local friends and I had a great time performing in Dirty Rotten Scoundrels with them last October. By the way, CAOS will be one of the local organisations performing at Chichester Pride!
My main focus as a volunteer has been to secure funding for Chichester Pride. We have received some wonderful support from local businesses and I was thrilled when I received an email from the National Lottery saying that we had been awarded £10,000 from their Community Fund.
I really hope that the work we are doing now will secure Chichester Pride’s financial future for years to come.
